Excitement is building as the time comes nearer to building a
new shopping center in Woodland Hills. TheVillage at Westfield Topanga will be the newest addition of shops and
entertainment that will bring many benefits to the people residing in the area. The 30 acre lot on Topanga and Victory will
be turned into a massive shopping center anchored by Costco. The shopping center will include hundreds of
shops and restaurants as well as a hotel, movie theatre, a 12 story office
tower, a community center and 3,362 new parking spaces. Located in the heart of Warner Center, The Village
at Westfield Topanga will combine with Westfield Topanga and Westfield
Promenade malls to create one of Southern California’s largest shopping
centers.
After a 7 year effort by the
Westfield group, the City Council finally approved the development in February
2012. The shopping center will be built
in two phases. Phase 1 will include
Costco and four retail buildings said to be done by 2013. Phase 1 will bring benefits such as shuttle
services, bike racks and a 7,000 square ft. senior center. The rest of the buildings will be in phase 2
and are scheduled to be done in 2016, although no strict deadline was set.
What does this mean
for you?
As a potential homeowner, this
means more entertainment, shops, job opportunities and an overall better
lifestyle! The addition of the discount
store, Costco, will provide locals with their everyday needs whereas the other
anchor stores (Nordstrom, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus and Sears) provide any luxury
need desired. Company executives are
describing the discount store as “one of the nicest-looking Costcos anybody has
ever seen!” This shopping center will
cater to your every need and will be conveniently located just around the
corner!
